📋 Prerequisites
Basic English reading and writing skills (NQF Level 1 equivalent). Mathematical literacy is required for risk scoring and calculations. Prior OHS knowledge is beneficial but not essential.
📘 What You'll Learn
- • Define the key concepts of hazard, risk, and risk assessment in the workplace context.\n• Apply a systematic methodology to identify all potential hazards in their work areas (physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, and psychosocial).\n• Conduct a risk assessment using a recognised scoring matrix (e.g., 5x5 or 3x3) to determine risk priority.\n• Select and recommend appropriate control measures based on the hierarchy of controls (Elimination, Substitution, Engineering, Administrative, PPE).\n• Understand the legal requirements for risk assessments under the OHS Act and relevant regulations.
